Non-Resident / Out of District Information

Non-Resident Processes

If you live outside of UPSD boundaries and would like to request approval from the UPSD Educational Service Center, (ESC) to register or continue enrollment, please complete the appropriate process below.

Applications for the new 2024-25 school year will be accepted starting on March 19th.

All requests must be submitted in person to the ESC located at 3717 Grandview Dr. W. We can not be responsible for missing requests that are not date stamped by the main receptionist.

  • To continue enrollment with University Place School District after moving out of our district boundaries, please complete the following steps:

    1. Complete the Non-Resident Application for the appropriate school year, (this is a fillable form). For best results, save it to your computer before completing. Print this form and deliver it to the ESC at 3717 Grandview Dr. W. Paper forms are available on site for your convenience. 2024-25 Form / 2023-24 Form
    2. Complete an online Choice Transfer Release from your new resident district using OSPI’s Choice Transfer system. This will notify your new district and they will forward the request to us. An email will be sent to your email confirming the request. Please print that email to confirm submission and include this with the application.
    3. Bring both the application and the choice transfer confirmation to the District Office at 3717 Grandview Dr W.

     

    Both of these steps must be completed as soon as possible to be considered for continued enrollment within UPSD. Thank you.

     

     

  • To continue enrollment with University Place School District for next school year, please complete the following steps:

    1. Complete the 2024-2025 Application for Non-Resident Admission. For best results, save it to your computer before completing. Print this form and deliver it to the ESC at 3717 Grandview Dr. W. Paper forms are available on site for your convenience.
    2. Complete an online Choice Transfer Release from your new resident district  using OSPI’s Choice Transfer system. This will notify your new district and they will forward the request to us. An email will be sent to your email confirming the request. Please print that email to confirm submission and include this with the application.
    3. Bring both the application and the choice transfer confirmation to the District Office at 3717 Grandview Dr W.

     

    Applications will be date stamped upon receipt. It is imparrative to submit these starting February 20th as early as possible to ensure the best possible outcome. Late applications could result in a school move.

     

     

  • Applications for the 2024-2025 school year WILL NOT be accepted until Tuesday, March 19th.

     

    To request approval to register your student(s) into a University Place school when your residence is outside of the UPSD boundaries, please complete ALL of the steps listed below. Submit only completed packets in person to the District Office, (ESC) at 3717 Grandview Dr. W. Families moving from out of state, please contact us at 253-566-5600 for additional submission options.

    1. Complete the Non-Resident Application for the appropriate school year, (this is a fillable form). For best results, save it to your computer before completing. Print this form and deliver it to the ESC at 3717 Grandview Dr. W. Paper forms are available on site for your convenience. 2024-25 Form / 2023-24 Form
    2. A Non-Resident School Verification Form completed by the school your student last attended. Including:
      1. Attendance Report for the most recent school year.
      2. One of the following: most recent grading report, report card, or transcript.
      3. Discipline report if applicable.
      4. Current IEP or 504 plan if applicable.
    3. Submit online a Choice Transfer release from your resident district using OSPI’s Choice Transfer system. This will notify your new district and they will forward the request to us. An email will be sent to your email confirming the request. Please be preparred to share that email to confirm submission when the application is turned in to the ESC.

     

    All of these steps must be completed for each student and submitted to the district before starting the registration process.  If accepted, you will be notified of the next steps.
